Cup Depths

The Van Cleave Studio cup depths cover a wide range of playing applications.

Our C (medium) cup is designed for lyrical or solo playing. Our C cup has the acoustic qualities of a traditional C cup with less resistance, more center of sound, and improved overall efficiency.

Our M (medium shallow) cup is designed for lead and commercial playing. BIG bright projecting lead sound with a quick response. The M cup will cut through a big band or any other loud group with ease.

Our S (shallow) cup is designed for extended upper register playing. VERY quick response with tremendous SIZZLE and PROJECTION!

Our A cup produces a big fat sound that is wonderful for filling up a room or trumpet section. The A cup has a quick response for a larger cup.

The Z cup is a deep cup that produces a warm round tone with some of the fluid qualities of a flugelhorn. Great for jazz soloing and other soft/warm solo situations.
